Whole Home Audio Installation
Whole Home Audio Systems for Phoenix Homes
Music in every room, on every patio, at every pool — controlled from a single app, voice command, or wall keypad. In-ceiling speakers, multi-zone amplifiers, and streaming platforms professionally designed, wired, and tuned by a licensed Arizona low-voltage contractor.
Why Whole Home Audio
Music Everywhere, Speakers Nowhere
A whole home audio system fills every room in your house with music while keeping speakers completely invisible — flush-mounted in ceilings and walls, painted to match your décor, with no visible wires, no countertop clutter, and no Bluetooth pairing headaches. Centralized amplifiers power everything from a rack or closet, and a single app gives you instant control over every zone from your phone.
Planet Geek designs and installs distributed audio systems that cover your entire home — kitchen, living room, master suite, bathrooms, home office, garage, patio, pool deck, and beyond. We run all speaker wire during new construction or retrofit through attic and wall cavities in existing homes, install and aim every speaker, configure your amplifiers and streaming platform, and integrate audio with your smart home automation. As a licensed low-voltage contractor (ROC #357379), we bring the same infrastructure expertise to your audio system that we bring to networking, security, and smart home projects.
System Components
What Goes Into a Whole Home Audio System
In-Ceiling Speakers
In-ceiling speakers are the backbone of distributed audio. Mounted flush with the ceiling and painted to match, they’re nearly invisible while delivering room-filling sound from above. We install 6.5″ and 8″ in-ceiling speakers from Sonance (designed and tuned in collaboration with Sonos) and other premium manufacturers. Options include standard stereo pairs, single-stereo point-source speakers for smaller rooms, and angled models for optimal listening positions.
In-Wall Speakers
In-wall speakers mount flush in the wall and are ideal for left/center/right channels in media rooms, or for rooms where ceiling installation isn’t practical. They deliver a more directional, focused sound compared to ceiling speakers. We install in-wall models for both dedicated listening zones and home theater surround sound applications.
Outdoor Speakers
Arizona’s year-round outdoor lifestyle demands audio on the patio, at the pool, and around the outdoor kitchen. We install weather-rated outdoor speakers and subwoofers designed to withstand extreme heat, UV exposure, and monsoon moisture. Landscape speakers blend into rock features and planters for invisible outdoor audio. All outdoor speakers are wired back to your centralized amplifiers and appear as controllable zones in your system.
Amplifiers & Streaming
The amplifier powers your passive speakers and connects them to your streaming platform. We install the Sonos Amp (125W per channel, powers one zone, integrates with AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect) and the new Sonos Amp Multi (8 amplified outputs configurable across 4 zones from a single 1U rack unit — designed for professional multi-zone installations with advanced EQ, delay management, and level control). For premium builds, we deploy multi-channel distribution amplifiers that power 8–16+ zones from a centralized equipment rack.
Control & Smart Home Integration
Your audio system should be effortless to use. We configure the Sonos app for room grouping, volume control, and source selection from any phone or tablet. For deeper integration, we program wall keypads, in-wall touchscreens, and automation scenes through Savant, Alarm.com, or Lutron — press ‘Entertain’ and music fills the living room and patio while lights dim to 50%. Voice control through Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri works across all zones.
Where We Install Audio
Audio Zones for Every Space
We design audio systems covering every room and outdoor area in your home. Typical zones include: Kitchen & Great Room • Living Room & Family Room • Master Bedroom & Ensuite • Guest Bedrooms • Home Office • Dining Room • Bathrooms • Laundry Room • Garage & Workshop • Covered Patio • Pool Deck & Spa • Outdoor Kitchen • Courtyard & Casita • Home Theater (integrated as an audio zone when not in theater mode) • Home Gym. Each zone has independent source selection and volume control, or can be grouped for whole-home playback.
How It Works
Our Audio Installation Process
1. Consultation & Zone Planning
We walk your home, discuss how you use each room, and design your zone map — specifying speaker models, locations, amplifier assignments, and control interfaces. You receive a detailed proposal with every component and cost.
2. Structured Cabling
We run 16-gauge up to 12-gauge speaker wire from every speaker location back to your centralized amplifier rack or closet. All runs are labeled at both ends and terminated cleanly. For new construction, this happens during rough-in. For existing homes, we route through attic, wall cavities, and conduit.
3. Speaker Installation
We cut ceiling and wall openings, mount every speaker, verify fit and aim, and paint grilles to match your ceiling or wall color. Speaker placement is optimized for even coverage and stereo imaging in each room.
4. Amplifier & Network Setup
We rack-mount or closet-install your amplifiers, connect speaker wiring, configure your network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), set up the Sonos app (or Savant/Alarm.com for smart home integration), and configure streaming services, AirPlay, and voice assistants.
5. Tuning & Programming
We set speaker levels, EQ, and delay for each zone to account for room size and acoustics. We program automation scenes and verify multi-zone grouping, independent volume, and source selection. You get a full walkthrough of the app, wall controls, and voice commands.
6. Ongoing Support
Firmware updates, zone additions, speaker upgrades, and new streaming platform configurations — we’re your long-term audio partner. When you add a pool house or finish a basement, we extend your system seamlessly.
