Golf Simulator Design & Installation

Custom Home Golf Simulator Installation in Phoenix

Year-round golf in your own home — professionally designed, wired, and calibrated by a licensed Arizona low-voltage contractor. From launch monitor selection to projector mounting, impact screen installation, and one-touch smart home automation, we build simulator rooms that perform.

Why a Home Golf Simulator

Bring the Course Home

A home golf simulator lets you practice your full swing, dial in your short game, and play the world’s most iconic courses — all without leaving your house. With Phoenix summers pushing 115°F and tee times costing $100+ at premium courses, a simulator pays for itself in convenience, practice time, and year-round playability.

Planet Geek designs and installs complete golf simulator environments — from the technology stack (launch monitor, projector, screen, PC, software) to the room infrastructure (structured cabling, projector mounting, lighting, acoustic treatment, and smart home integration). We’re not a golf equipment retailer. We’re a licensed low-voltage contractor (ROC #357379) that builds the room and wires the technology so everything works together seamlessly.

System Components

What Goes Into a Golf Simulator

Launch Monitors

The launch monitor is the brain of your simulator — it reads club and ball data (speed, spin, launch angle, path, face angle) and transmits it to your simulation software in real time. We install overhead-mounted units like Trackman iO and Uneekor EYE XO2 for permanent ceiling installations, as well as floor-level units like Foresight GCQuad, SkyTrak+, and FlightScope Mevo+ for flexible setups. We help you choose based on accuracy requirements, space constraints, software compatibility, and budget.

Impact Screens & Enclosures

The impact screen is what you hit into — and what your projector displays on. We install high-durability woven impact screens from Carl’s Place, SIG (SwingInGolf), and other manufacturers, mounted in steel or aluminum enclosure frames with side netting and ceiling baffles to contain mishits. Enclosure sizing is matched to your room dimensions for maximum screen area and safe swing clearance.

Projectors & Display

A short-throw or ultra-short-throw 4K projector mounted overhead or behind the hitting position delivers a bright, sharp image on your impact screen — typically 100–150+ inches. We select projectors based on throw ratio, brightness (lumens), resolution, input lag for gaming performance, and mounting logistics. All projector wiring is concealed with clean HDMI and power runs through the ceiling.

Simulation Software & PC

Your launch monitor feeds data to simulation software that renders the ball flight, course, and environment in real time. Top platforms in 2026 include TGC 2019 (The Golf Club) for photorealistic course simulation, E6 Connect for a polished interface and broad compatibility, GSPro for data-focused players and putting realism, and Awesome Golf for casual play. We spec and configure the gaming PC with the right GPU, RAM, and storage to run your chosen software smoothly at 4K.

Hitting Mats & Turf

The hitting surface matters for feel, durability, and joint health. We install premium hitting mats from FiberBuilt, TrueStrike, and Carl’s Place that simulate real turf interaction and absorb shock. Stance mats with interlocking foam tiles create a level, comfortable hitting area. For dedicated rooms, we can integrate flush-mount turf installations for a seamless floor-to-screen transition.

Lighting, Audio & Smart Control

Proper lighting prevents projector washout while keeping the room comfortable. We install dimmable LED lighting on smart controls that adjust automatically when the simulator powers on. Ceiling speakers or a soundbar bring course ambiance and impact sounds to life. One-touch automation scenes power on the launch monitor, projector, PC, and adjust lights and shades — all from a single button, app, or voice command.

Room Requirements

Space Planning for Your Simulator

Minimum recommended room dimensions: 10 feet wide × 12–15 feet deep × 8.5–9 feet ceiling height. Ideal dimensions for a premium build: 12+ feet wide × 16+ feet deep × 10 feet ceiling height. Taller ceilings accommodate full driver swings without clipping, and extra depth improves projector image quality and allows for seating behind the hitting position.

The most common installation locations are garages (2-car or 3-car with one bay dedicated), basements, bonus rooms, spare bedrooms, and purpose-built additions. Garages offer easy installation access and typically have the ceiling height needed. Planet Geek evaluates your specific space — ceiling height, width, depth, ambient light, HVAC, electrical capacity — and recommends the right equipment and layout to maximize performance within your room’s constraints.

How It Works

Our Golf Simulator Installation Process

1. Consultation & Space Evaluation

We visit your home, measure the room, evaluate ceiling height and clearance, identify electrical and HVAC considerations, and discuss your goals — practice vs. entertainment, budget tier, software preferences, and smart home integration requirements.

2. System Design & Proposal

We design your complete simulator — launch monitor, enclosure, screen, projector, PC, hitting mat, lighting, audio, and control. You receive a detailed proposal with every component, where it goes, and what it costs.

3. Room Preparation

We coordinate any structural, electrical, or HVAC work needed. We run structured cabling — HDMI, Cat6, speaker wire, and power — through walls and ceiling to the projector, launch monitor, PC location, and control system.

4. Equipment Installation

We mount the projector, install the enclosure and impact screen, mount the launch monitor, set up the PC and simulation software, install the hitting mat, and connect all cabling. Acoustic padding is installed where needed to dampen impact noise.

5. Calibration & Programming

We calibrate the launch monitor for accurate shot data, align the projector for a crisp image on the screen, configure simulation software settings, and program your smart home automation scenes.

6. Walkthrough & Support

We walk you through operating the simulator, demonstrate automation scenes, and make sure you’re comfortable with the software. Ongoing support for software updates, calibration adjustments, and equipment upgrades is a phone call away.
